Hey, how have you all been? I haven't written in this journal for months, disaster. Been mostly working and EXAMS, these things always get in the way dont they?

Last weekend I decided to take a break from studying to make a cake. As you do. Tea and cake are after all essential for learning, so there's my reasoning right there. I should mention now that my previous flatmates banned me from doing any baking following the grilled fairy cakes incident and the salt/sugar mix up while attempting to make scones. Basically Im not the best baker ever and they figured it was best if I wasnt allowed near an oven. Current flatmate, however, is blissfully unaware of my lack of baking prowess and didnt throw himself infront of the kitchen door to stop me.

So anyway, I decided lemon cake might be a relatively safe option, and it was going quite well apart from me trying to rind a lemon which mostly consisted of me grating my own fingers. I put the cake mix, which surprisingly actually looked like cake mix into a baking tin and was starting to feel a bit suspicious that it was all going so well. Approximately 4 seconds of oven time later there was a bit of an explosion so I looked in the oven to see the massive fireball that was once a cake. Woops. There was alot of shouting and fire extinguisher hunting but post-fire it looked a bit like this:

You'll be shocked to know that no one wanted some with their tea.

I was not to be defeated though (and by this time I REALLY wanted some cake) so I tried again and made another one. This time there were no fires, only EXCELLENT CAKE.
